PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION
SYNTHETIC RUBBER COMPOUND, ACID AND OIL RESISTANT
This specification is approved for use by the Naval Sea Systems Command, Department of the Navy, and is
available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the material for lining the battery compartments of submarines and
other compartments aboard ships with a synthetic rubber compound which is resistant to battery acid and
hydrocarbon oils (see 6.1).
1.2 Classification. The lining material will be the following type:
Type II - Synthetic rubber which is applied in the vulcanized state by adhering it to the compartment with adhesive.
Note: The Type I material which was included in previous versions of this document is obsolete and has been
deleted.
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or
